Volunteer Opportunities

Are you interested in getting involved with other Oles who assist the college as volunteers? St. Olaf College provides you many opportunities to get involved and serve others.

Reunion Planning Committees
Each year about 100 volunteers help plan and promote their class reunions. They plan and arrange their class reunion luncheon program, write promotion pieces encouraging classmates to attend, and make arrangements for any off-campus gatherings. For more information or to serve on your reunion committee, e-mail to alum-office@stolaf.edu.

Reunion Gift Volunteers
To coordinate reunion gift efforts, a committee of several classmates is established for each class planning a reunion gift. These volunteers encourage their classmates to participate in the reunion gift campaign, and they present their gift to the college during their reunion celebration. For more information, e-mail partner@stolaf.edu.

Club Volunteers
Working with the Alumni and Parent Relations staff, club volunteers plan events and activities in their hometown or region. Events include speakers from the college, concerts (frequently by St. Olaf music ensembles), faculty seminars, family events, service projects, and almost anything else the local volunteers wish to plan. Club volunteers work throughout the country in most major metropolitan areas. For more information or to volunteer to help out in your area, e-mail alum-office@stolaf.edu.

Class Fund Agents
Since 1995, volunteers have been working to increase annual gifts to the college by personally contacting their classmates. Working with the annual giving staff, class fund agents send fundraising appeals to members of their class, write thank-you notes for gifts to the college, and encourage increased alumni participation in Partners in Annual Giving. Just over 200 Oles are serving their classes as CFAs. For more information or to volunteer e-mail partner@stolaf.edu.

Class Correspondents
Class correspondents serve their classmates and the college by writing a class newsletter each year. Class correspondents put their personal touch to news of classmates through the various stages of life. For more information e-mail alum-office@stolaf.edu.

Alumni Admissions Volunteer
As the St. Olaf Admissions Office continues to focus on national target areas (CA, CO, IL, TX, WA/OR, and the DC area) they ask for your help in reaching out to prospective students and families during the admissions process. As an Alumni Admissions volunteer, activities might include attending college fairs, reaching out to high schools in your area, hosting a reception, or simply having a phone or email conversation with prospective students. For more information on volunteer opportunities in the Admissions Office, email Jenny Howenstine at howensti@stolaf.edu
