Welcome to the
Biology Department!
It is a pleasure to welcome you to our Biology Department web site. I hope as you wander about our web site that you sense the excitement we have as we strive for excellence in our teaching and research. We have an outstanding department of gifted and committed faculty and staff dedicated to provide a spirited and challenging education. Thanks in large part to multiple grants from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, our laboratories and classrooms are equipped in a manner which allows us to teach with modern technological tools. In addition, we are fortunate to have a beautiful campus which has become an extension of our in-house laboratories. Many of the pictures you will see on our web site are of students and faculty working outside on our own campus. Finally, I would be remiss if I did not mention that we at St. Olaf are fortunate to attract wonderful students. Our students are bright, energetic, and very open to sharing our passion for biology. The rewards of working with these students is what brings meaning to our efforts. Enjoy the site! Dr. Anne Walter
