Institutional Research and Evaluation

The mission of Institutional Research and Evaluation (IR&E) is to provide data, reports, and research that support institutional planning, strengthen student learning, and promote understanding of the nature and quality of education at St. Olaf College.

The vision of IR&E is to be a national leader among liberal arts institutions in institutional research and the assessment of student learning.

Data and information concerning all aspects of life and work at St. Olaf, including the Common Data Set, student and employee profiles, data about our graduates and alumni, financial summaries, and other institutional information

Assessment of student learning 
Why and how we gather evidence of student learning in the college as a whole and within General Education, majors, international studies, and other academic programs

Tenure, promotion, and other faculty reviews
Policies and procedures for reviews of teaching for reappointment, renewal, tenure, promotion, post-tenure, and other faculty reviews

Course evaluations
Advice, sample forms, and links to assist course instructors in designing and administering evaluation questionnaires for courses or other instructional experiences

Program review
Guidelines for preparing a self-study, links to relevant college-wide documents, and information about program-specific data available from IR&E and the Office of the Registrar

Grant project evaluation
Information and resources to support the evaluation component of grant applications and funded projects

Questionnaire design and data collection
Assistance with question wording, administration, and reporting in data collection projects
