Podcasting
MacOS X 10.5 and onward have podcasting capabilities. Here's how to create a podcast using a Mac.
In the Finder toolbar, select Go, and scroll down to click Utilities.

In Utilities, select Podcast Capture.

If you receive the following message, press Continue.

You will be prompted for your username and password, and then for a server name. In the server name space, write "podcast.stolaf.edu" and press Continue.

The screen below will appear. Choose the type of podcast you want to create. Video will take video and audio, Screen will take a video of the screen and record audio, Dual combines both Video and Screen, and Audio will just record sound.

In this example, Screen mode was chosen. Start recording by pressing the round red button with the screen on it, or using the keyboard command "command + F2." The same button or command will pause and resume recording as well.

When you've finished recording, press the Publish button.

Choose the type of podcast from the list of choices. The first choice, St. Olaf Podcast (Public - Single Source) will make your podcast available to the general public. The second choice, St. Olaf Podcast (St. Olaf User Only - Single Source) can only be heard/viewed from campus, or with a St. Olaf username and Password. Students can only access the St. Olaf Users Only choice.

In the Episode field, write the full name of the course. When you are done filling out the information, click Submit at the bottom right.

Once your podcast has been published, you will see a screen that looks like this. Shortly after, you will receive a confirmation email that gives you audio and video links to the podcast you've just created.

Your confirmation email should look like the one below. Copy and paste the desired link into your email or your moodle page to share with others. .m4v files will be the link to the video version of your podcast. .m4a files will only link to the audio in your podcast.

Links will direct viewers to your podcast.
